1.  About the conference
The 2009 International Conference on Financial Statistics and Financial Econometrics will be held at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), July 8-10, Chengdu, China. The conference will be served as a platform for communication of scholars and experts in Financial Statistics and Econometrics from all over the world. They are invited to share their contributions, new ideas, applications and industrial requirements that are related to financial statistics and econometrics.
2.  Theme of the conference
The theme of the Conference is the latest developments in Financial Statistics and Econometrics.
3.  Participants
Dr. Jianqing Fan, President of Institute of Mathematical Statistics and Professor of Finance at the Princeton University, Dr. Wolfgang Karl Hardle, Professor at the Humboldt- Universitat zu Berlin and about 60 other Professors and scholars from universities in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Singapore, Australia, HK and Macao have been invited. 100 more Professors, scholars, graduate students in the field of Financial Statistics and Econometrics, and practitioners in finance industry from china are anticipated to join the conference.
4.  Relevant topics
The program committee of the conference cordially invites you to submit your paper to this conference. All papers related to theoretical developments and applications of Financial Statistics and Econometrics are welcome. Relevant topics include, but not limited to:
Nonparametric statistics
Nonparametric econometrics
Financial time series
Financial risk analysis
Monetary and financial statistics
Computational finance
Financial econometrics
Your final paper and abstract should be written in English. All papers are refereed by anonymous experts. About 100 high quality papers will be selected for representation in sessions of the conference.

7. Basic arrangements
a. Except the invited talks, the presentations are arranged in several working groups around the topics listed above. Scholars and graduate students at home and abroad are encouraged to submit papers. An English abstract, about 300 words long, is required to submit before the full paper submission. Author’s information such as name, institute, address, phone number, fax and email should be included in the paper.
b. Important dates: Online Registration Due:  April 20, 2009. Paper Submission Due: May 20, 2009. Abstracts and papers should be submitted on line through the conference website or to the email address stat-c@swufe.edu.cn. After they are refereed the conference committee will send invitations to their corresponding authors.
c. To encourage more scholars and graduates to join the meeting, the program committee is going to keep some slots for them.
d. Registration fee should be paid in cash on-site. For scholars living out of the Mainland China, the fee is $250, for domestic scholars, the fee is ¥600. Graduate students will be charged half of the fee with a valid student id card. One round trip to scenic spots near Chengdu is covered by the fee. Lodging and food are not included in the registration fee. Information about hotels (4-stars, and a university hotel) near the SWUFE can be found here.

f. Invitations to foreign scholars will be sent out before May 10, 2009; invitations to inland scholars will be sent out no later than May 25, 2009.
g. Tours after the conference
After the conference, the organization committee will help participants contact Travel Service Company to arrange tours for scenic spots in Sichuan province. One option is to visit Jiu Zhai Gou (Nine Village Valley), the other is to visit Le Shan and E Mei Mountain. The fee for the tours is on participants.
